Saadani National Park

Located only 130 km north of Dar es salaam and directly to the west of Zanzibar Island, Saadani is the only coastal wildlife sanctuary in East Africa, which not only means relaxing on Indian Ocean beaches after each safari, but provides the opportunity to observe Africa’s big game and birdlife interacting with the sea.

Declared a National Park in 2002, Saadani covers an area of approximately 1,100 square kilometers and boasts a rich variety of wildlife. Visitors may spot elephants, leopards, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, colobus monkeys, hippos, crocodiles, and even the rare Roosevelt sable. Saadani offers a unique blend of safari experiences, including game drives, nature walks, and boat safaris along the Wami River, making it a versatile destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
